The Madras High Court today allowed holding dance and song programmes during temple festivals stipulating that all performances must be shorn of obscenity, vulgarity and political overtones. Justice K Kalyanasundaram gave the order while considering petitions from various people seeking permissions to hold dance and song programmes during temple festivals. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will ‘verify and examine’ the corruption allegations levelled against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by his sacked cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra. The decision was taken hours after Mishra reached the CBI headquarters and handed over the ‘evidence’ to back his allegations. The statement issued by CBI later on Tuesday said the allegations need to examined before initiating the preliminary probe against Kejriwal. On the basis of recommendations of the Centre, the state has told schools not to sell food ‘High in Fat, Salt and Sugar’ (HFSS). The decision has been taken looking at childhood obesity and related diseases. “HFSS food has very little vitamins and minerals… (Their consumption raises the chance of obesity) and other related diseases among children.
