Urban Development Ministry has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allow it to continue the advertisement campaign under the central flagship programme Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) as the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in five states with the announcement of poll dates. In a letter to ECI Senior Principal Secretary R K Srivastava, Joint Secretary in Urban Development Ministry and SBM Mission Director Praveen Prakash has requested for a No Objection Certificate to carry on the advertisements under the SBM which aims for a clean India by October 2019. ` The copy of the letter was also marked to Election Commissioners O P Rawat and A K Joti. I-T dept. detects Rs. 4,807 crore black income; seizes Rs. 112 crore new notes

Over Rs. 4,807 crore of undisclosed income has been detected while Rs. 112 crore worth new notes have been seized by the Income Tax department as part of its country-wide operations against black money hoarders post demonetisation. Official sources said the taxman carried out a total of 1,138 search, survey and enquiry operations under the provisions of the Income Tax Act since the note ban was declared on November 8 last year, even as the department has issued 5,184 notices to various entities on charges of tax evasion and hawala-like dealings. The department, they said, has seized cash and jewellery worth over Rs. 609.39 crore during the same period even as the new currency seized (majorly Rs. 2000 notes) is valued at about Rs. 112.8 crore. Haryana achieved sex ratio of 900 girls per 1000 boys

Haryana achieved a sex ratio of 900 girls as against 1000 boys in 2016, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today, citing Civil Registration System (CRS) data. This is much in contrast to the statistics of 2011, when Haryana had the worst sex ratio of 834:1000 among all states in the country, he said. The state government had been making concerted efforts to improve the sex ratio, and now it has taken a leap forward by achieving marked improvement in the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB), he claimed. Govt. of India launched Toll-free Helpline for Digital Payments

The government, in collaboration with telecom and IT industry, has launched a toll-free helpline – 14444 – to address consumer queries on digital payments. The helpline will address questions regarding various platforms, including the newly-launched Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), eWallets, Aadhaar-enabled payment system and USSD. “The helpline ‘14444’ is available in North as well as Eastern part of the country in English and Hindi and will soon be extended pan India, and in other languages,” Telecom Secretary J S Deepak told PTI. Police rescued nearly 200 children, most of them under the age of 14, who had been found working in a brick kiln in Telangana in one of the biggest operations in the region, officials said on Wednesday. The children were rescued from a brick kiln in Yadadiri district, 40 kilometres (25 miles) from state capital Hyderabad, as part of “Operation Smile”, a national campaign to tackle child labour and missing children.
